QuestionI am trying to keep my bloodhound from mating again until we are ready for the responsibility, her first litter of pups we gave away about a week and a half ago. How long after her milk dries up will she go into heat again?
AnswerHi Becky. She should go back into heat when she normally does. If it's usually 6 months in between heats, then she should go back into heat 6 months after the last heat, not from when the pups were born, or from when they were weaned. Some girls may delay their cycles a month or two later than normal after whelping a litter. Good luck! P.S. I love Bloodhounds! Beautiful dogs.
