Question
We have 2 female dogs (both spayed) who have lived together for 3 years - no problems - until this week when the largest one turned on the smaller and did physical damage - when reunited after 4 days - she was again very aggresive - what is happening?

Answer
Hi Linda,

Try and determine which of your dogs is dominant and let her eat first and have more attention. It appears that your smaller dog is challenging your larger dog. Since the smaller dog appears to be the loser, plus suffering physical damage, I would guess that the smaller dog will soon exhibit subservient behavior to your larger dog and peace will return to your pack.

Be sure not to aggravate the situation by allowing your human sense of "fair play" to influence your actions.

Good Luck
