Question
QUESTION: i need to know why my 8 wk old pom is sleeping in her litter pan, is it dangerous to her? and why is she doing it her litter pan is on one side of her kennel and she has plenty of space on the other side. how can i break her of this habit.

ANSWER: The most likely reason is the Pom smells its scent in the litter. It isn't dangerous unless the dog eats the clay, which may cause constipation because it absorbs water.  Put a small dog bed in the crate and remove the litter box until the dog uses the bed for sleeping. Then return the litter box. Put them at opposite ends of the crate. You can also put your scent on the bed by rubbing your sweat on the bed.

QUESTION: why does he do his bms in the litter and urinates outside the box in his kennel?

Answer
For the same reason some dogs eat dog and/or cat poop.  Urine is used for marking territory and to warn intruders away. Dogs don't normally use a litter box, they have to be trained. Dogs are generally indiscriminate as to where they go, unlike cats that bury their deposits.
