dog hunting in backyard...

Question
My wife and I rescued our third dog and now after his heartworm treatment he is obviously feeling better because he has killed two birds and a squirrel in the backyard in the last week. My wife is getting rather bothered at having to dispatch partially dead critters at all times of the day while I am am away.

He is lab/golden mix and extremely friendly if not rather sensitive to scolding.

Is there any way to rid him gently of this hunting instinct? Maybe more playful distractions...?...there are two other dogs to play with.

I'm at a loss.

Thanks!

Answer
Well, about the only way that'll work 100% is for him to wear a muzzle in the yard

But there are other ways, such as calling him everytime you see him go after another animal OR put him on a leash in the yard(using some type of training tool chock chain ect) everytime he goes after another animal give him a quick correction and say very firmly "Leave it"
