Shiba vs. Mini Daschund

Question
I have owned a miniature Daschund for almost three years, my roomate has had a Shiba Inu for about a year.  They, for the most part get along, but there are the occasional outburst in which the Shiba ends up attacking my Daschund and does not know when to pull away, even when he yelps and he normally walks away bleeding!  The Daschund now tends to coward down when the Shiba is around and sometimes hides under the couch. Obviously, I'm first concerned about my Dashunds safety. He now has several scars on him, and currently a piece of his ear hanging off (yeah, no fun), and I'm trying to give the Shiba the benefit of doubt. I currently have my roomate keeping her Shiba downstairs with her 24/7, my next step is to give the Shiba to someone who has no other pets. (The Shiba has also had altercations with another dog) Any suggestions?

Answer
Shibas can be aggressive towards smaller dogs-my Shiba got along great with a Scottish Terrier I owned, but he was about the same size as her

What you can try is to crate the Shiba or put it in another room when no one is home

However if the fighting is constant you may have to re-home the Shiba-but one thing that does work is to let both dogs play while wearing muzzles that way they can sort out there pecking order without getting hurt
