Beaten Ridgeback

Question
Hi,

Augie was rescued by our Daughter Meghan after he was beaten, and had his leg broken by a Pizza shop owner. Earlier he was abandoned as a new puppy.

When he stays with us he refuses to leave the front of our home during the day, unless my wife and I both walk him. At night I can walk him all over the neighborhood.

Any suggestions on helping him to enjoy a day time walk with just one of us?

You do not give the age of this poor creature of mans best friend.  how sad this poor dog is and went through, these questions makes me ill to my stomach that humans can be so inhumane to any creature at all.  I cannot even kill a rat.!
Keep giving this dog tons of love, hugs and kises and gain his respect with patience and time.   Give him doggie biscuits and tell him over and over that he is a wonderful boy for dogs do learn our language at least my shepherds do, they know by my body posture what mood I am in.
I feel so sad this evening of Thanksgiving to get this response that somebody nearly tortured this poor dog to death.  Give him so much love and earn his respect with rewards of love.
Walk him daily if u had a pal for him it would work better also.  Get a puppy for him to learn from, to be happy once again, i know it is asking alot but u just do not how much two make for a happy pair.  I always kept two in the home, now i am up to six and two bitches bred.
Get him a pal to play with to forget for it is most hard for dogs to forget abuse if they ever do.  Most will work into a family with much patience and love and if he had somebody to play with to forget.?  GEESSS these are the kind I would love to rescue and rehalibitate in Pat's way and it works for I think like a dog and I know dogs so well, their needs and desires.

keep working with him, walk him about traffice, cross bridges, water, noise, he knows the door means freedom from hurt and pain, so he sits and waits to escape.  Poor doggie, I feel so badly for the poor thing, just makes me ill.  How could any human on earth mistreat an animal?  Only God knows these kinds of mulls.
