Question
My 5 yeard old Lakeland Terrier is having some allergie or dermatitis which is making her very stressed. I've taken her to the doctor and he prescribed her antibiotics and gave her a shot of corticosteroide (I'm not happy about this ...) which he said it would stop the itching. Did not work at all. It could be food allergie! Both of my dogs eat Wysong and they like it. Could be the food? How about some brown dots in her body. I asked the doctor he did not know about them .....
I am feeling terrible seing her like that.
Could you help me?
I also purchased Derma-ionx and sterted giving her on 7/13.
Thank,

Answer
Veterinarians often start with a simple remedy that is likely to work.  The first thing they try may not.  When that happens, you need to go back.

Yes, it could be food allergies.  Often it is the main ingredient that the dog is allergic to.  So if you are feeding a chicken or lamb based chow, switching to another chicken or lamb chow won't fix the problem.  The more different proteins you feed a young dog, the harder it may be workaround it if the dog does develop food allergies.
