I have an 11 yr old male shepherd.  He is in good health for his age.  Lately his hind legs are having muscle spasms (as it appears to the lay person) is there something that can be done or is this the begining of something worse?

Hi Jim,  It is really hard to say what you are seeing.  What you really want to be looking for at his age is the ability to be able to rise up from lying down.  His legs could be just spasming from exercise while they are relaxing.  If he actually starts to have some sort of seizures, then you do need to get him into a vet to get checked out and make sure nothing else serious is going on.  Wish I could be of more help,
