Question
what do you recommend in re medium size dog that is good for apartment dwellers, occasional visiting children, good walkers, calm and friendly personality - prefer rescue dog out of puppyhood, but not more than 2-3 years old. Thanks, J

Answer
My best advice would be to get a dog at a shelter-they have many types ages and sizes and many will be good for an apartment

Probably the best choice if you want to go by certain breeds I would go with a Mini poodles or a whippet both are good apartment dogs and both are calm and love kids, normally I add beagles to that list but they are too loud and active for an apartment, poodles can be yappy but are smart an easy to train, whippets are very quiet

About the only types of dogs I would really avoide for an apartment are hounds(such as beagles) or jack russles as they are very active-I would also avoid anything with chow as far kids go,as they tend to snap
