Sprained ankle Black Lab

Question
Dear Sarah:

Hope you can help.  About a month ago Biscuit was catching frisbee and after a high jump and catch he immediately sat down.   He hurt his right front ankle and was limping.  When you bent it or touched it he did not appear to be in pain.  We put ice on it as per the vet via phone.  We kept him "quiet" for the next 2 wks.  Since then he's been fine.  Last night, he barely lifted off the ground for a catch, and went down again.  Same ankle.  This morning he was still limping (on and off).  Suggestion?

Answer
With a repeat injury it is advisable to have a full vet check and most likely they will want to take x-rays of the joint.  A simple sprain shouldn't predispose to further injury after healing which leads to the possibility that there may be a more serious issue.
I would advise a vet check if he is not better within 24 hours.
Hope this helps
Sarah
