Dogs Interbreeding

Question
We have a male and female (brother & sister) Jack Russell.  She just came in heat for the first time and we have been doing everything to keep them apart.  However, he finally got to her.  Do we need to get the shot for her or is there a chance the puppies will be normal?

Answer
Inbreeding increases the chance for health issues in the puppies because it doubles up on any genetic problems that the dogs may carry in their genes.

Because your bitch is so young, she may not be willing to raise the puppies and you might have to take over feeding and cleaning them.
