Question
We have a 14 month old pembroke welsh corgi named Wyatt.  He is very cuddly and loveable.  He lives in a big house with a 1 acre yard, but has a runner when we are not out with him.  The only issue we have with him is that when I, the "alpha", or a stranger comes near him, he usually, except sometimes when we a have a treat in hand, crouches very low and pees.  He does this when we put him on and take him off his runner too.  I do not beat him up or anything, but I do spank his flank when he steals food off the table when we aren't looking or out of our 2 year old's hand.  We love him to death, but the incessant peeing is starting to make us crazy.  We have guests once or twice a week.  We can't constantly give him treats.  It does not occur during play, but only when someone takes a dominant position over him or calls his name sharply and then approaches him.  It's like he's trying to say "I am obedient please don't hurt me you are the boss" and showing it by crouching and peeing.  It's so strange.  Please help us!  Wyatt is the coolest dog, we just need him to stop peeing!!!

Answer
Most puppies will outgrow this behavior if it is ignored. I hope you haven't been scolding or fussing at him when he does it, because that can make it worse.

Rather than approaching him straight on, have you tried approaching him at an angle? When strangers want to pet him, have them crouch down and see if he will go to them, rather than them bending over top of him or whatever.

I think you also need to stop calling his name sharply when he is misbehaving. You should never use your dog's name when you are reprimanding them.
