Question
Got Alfie 5 weeks ago, he had loose stools but now are quite runny, is very active and healthy still, have been in constant contact with breeder, used all different worming medicines, and have changed diet several times, took to vet and got a bacterial medicine, no change she suggested tests but said they are very expensive. Any help would be appreciated, or diet ideas. Alfie has no other symptoms, desperate to sort this out for both of us but don't want to be ripped off with exstortionate vet bills

Answer
Hi Angela;
If you arte changing his diet without doing it gradually, you may be causing the diarreah.
When you change their diet, you need to mic old food and new food half and half for a week, then 2 parts new food and 1 part old food for a week, and then all new food.
If it isn't changed that way, you will usually cuse diarreah or at the least some stomach problems for awhile.
The exhorbatant VedTerinarian bills justy go with raising a pet.
They are a life, and they have all the same diseases and illnesses we have, and most of it is because we humans have messed up the atmosphere so that the natural predators of the germs and bacteria that cause these illnesses have been killed off.
Veterinarians go to school for as long as Medical doctors that treat humans do, and the cost is the same for them for their schooling and for opening a practice. So the costs of a Veterinarian are NOT out of line.
There are medical insurance policies for animals you can get that will help defray some of the cost, but if you take on the responsibility of raising an animal, you also assume the responsibility fior keeping them healthy.
