I have 5 puppies that I took to the vet Friday. Well tonight i have a worm infested dining room. They are inbedded in the carpet. I have vacumed and vacumed, after i go over a spot, more seem to wiggle up out of the carpet. I have four kids in my home. What do I need to do for the safty of my children?

Answer
Hi Candy,

This is just an educated guess, but I'd imagine you could use either Boric Acid, or Diatomaceous Earth to kill the worms you've got in your carpet. Both are available at garden centers.
You want to make sure you get "food grade Diatomaceous Earth", which isn't edible. It's used to kill insects in areas where food is stored.  Sprinkle either the Boric Acid, or Diatomaceous Earth onto your carpet, you can work it down into the fibers with a scrub brush. Let it sit for an hour or two and vacuum up. If you continue to see worms, retreat.

I'm not sure if an over the counter dog dewormer would work on worms that are not inside a dog's body or not. You could certainly try using a dedormer product on your carpet. Steam cleaning your carpet would also be helpful in killing these parasites.

You didn't say if your dog is being treated for worms or not. If you aren't you need to have your dog re-examined.

Best of luck,

Patti
