Picking a suitable breed

I am having difficulty in choosing a breed.  I have had dogs my whole life but I can't just go get any dog now.  I need one matched to my lifestyle.  I'm less active due to a car accident so that certainly narrows the field.  I've checked several online surveys yet I question their recommendations.  The dogs they recommended all seemed quite different and none really matched the criteria I entered. Can you recommend a site or some other resource that can advise me in selecting my next dog?
