Question
QUESTION: I want to buy a teacup yorkshire terrier or a teacup maltese. Can you please tell me if these teacups have health problems because of their small size? Can you also tell me the life span versus a regular size? Thank you.

ANSWER: There is actually no such thing as a 'teacup' Yorkshire terrier,Maltese or poodle it is a scam that petstores and backyard breeders try to pull-what they are are just runts of the litter

Runts can be healthy-but if they are bred on purpose like allot of so called 'teacups' they often have congenital problems like heart murmurs

Good breeders do not market runts as 'teacups' and because they are out of standard, they actually sell runts cheaper and usually require you to have them fixed

QUESTION: I want to get a small yorkie, so how do I know what is a good one since you are telling me there is no such thing as a tea cup. What about a miniature? Thanks for the info.

Answer
There are no mini yorkies(it's the same thing as a teacup)-probably the best thing to do would be to contact a yorkshire terrier breed club in your area, they will know of many good breeders, and they may even let you know of some runt puppies in need of a good home
