Question
i have a male neapolitan mastiff and he is 4yrs old..we took him to the vet for shaking his head and for a lump on his neck.he was treated for an ear infection and the vet said the lump is a swollen saliva gland which is common for this breed.its been 3months now and the lump goes up and down.like from a golf ball size to a football than back down.           help us,the vet costs are high

Answer
Hi Bill,

There is no substitute for vet care.
Salivary gland cysts can be very painful, please don't deny your dog the care he needs.

Talk to your vet. Many times you can work out a payment schedule for bills. The Humane Association, or local animal shelters might know of reduced cost vet clinics in your area, so that might be worth looking into as well.

Best of luck,
Patti
