dog poo

we have a 3yr old westie bitch. after placing droppings onto the soil for disposal a few days later i returned to remove and there was actual thick course hair growing from it ?

Hi Margaret,

Thank you for writing to me about your dog's fecal droppings.  

Might I suggest that rather than using the soil for disposal purposes that you immediately pick up the poop in a plastic bag and dispose of it in the garbage or toilet.  It is much more sanitary using this method.

Should your dog ever contract worms or parasites you can contaminate the soil by leaving the droppings in or on the soil.  If she ever contracts Giardia, the soil will be almost impossible to decontaminate once those parasites infiltrate.
