My Dog Wont Lick Me

Why does my Bullmastiff turn away when I ask for a kiss?  Even if I hold his
face close to mine he still turns away, yet he continuously licks my female
friend's face (he will lick my hands, arms, legs, feet, etc.).  We started
wondering if it is because he is also male, or if he doesn't respect me.  I read
one your replies stating that there is a small  percentage of dogs that
consider it a form of disrespect or aggression.  He is 2 yrs. old, eats dry food,
not neutered and mostly indoor dog.

Rick, I'm not sure why your dog doesn't want to lick you on the face. Do you have facial hair? Perhaps he doesn't like the feel of the stubble. Maybe he likes the taste of your friend's makeup. Sorry, but I'm just as stumped as you are. Personally, I don't like for dogs to lick me in the face, though, so if it were me, I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think it's a sign of disrespect.
