Question
i just got a very small chihuahua puppy.  she is 2 lbs and 17 weeks old.  the breeder didn't release her until now due to her size (she won't release a puppy until they weight 2 lbs).  my past experience, including a small ig, invoved puppies 8-9 weeks.  anyway, she is a sweet girl but is in the habit of peeing in her food bowl.  i stop her (she is aways watched or in a crate)and place her on a puppy pad (it is below zero outside) but she just sits on it and I can't get her to go.  she has good bladder control. i have tried blotting up pee from her bowl accidents but same result. any tips? i really want her to have a good training start but i am affraid of stressing her out. thanks!

Answer
pat, Hi!, she is too young to train. A gentle NO is sufficient when she does this.Subsequently, you must take her out at 6 fixed times. The night break should not exceed say 8 hrs. This will send her the message.  Keep her well covered.
