Shedding and Moving dog outside

Question
I have a 1 year old mix who I have let live inside our house. She has a very bad shedding problem that my husband can not overlook. I have grown very attached to the dog and the dog the same to me. I am afraid that my husband will get rid of the dog if I cannot find a solution. We are trying to have children and don't want the hair all over the house when the new baby arrives. I guess my question is should I make her strictly an outside dog, or will the shedding not be as big of a problem if I only let her in at night? She is used to sleeping with us and I would hate to make her a strictly outside dog except in the winter of course but that might be my only option. I would like your advice on how to deal with the shedding and if I do make her an outside dog how do I accomplish this without her digging out!

Answer
There is no way to prevent shedding, indoors or out, as it is dependent on day length (light). Indoor dogs shed year-round because of the room lighting in the evening which makes their days longer. The only way to keep on top of shedding is to feed a quality diet, such as Eagle, Canidae, Wellness, Solid Gold, or Flint River Ranch, and to brush the dog thoroughly every day and get that loose hair out of the coat in a more controlled fashion.

As to digging out of a fenced yard, here we live on sand and our fence was buried six inches when we put it up. You could probably do something similar with chicken wire or similar cheap fencing along the bottom of your fence. I've also heard of one person who put up Invisible Fencing a foot or so inside the length of her fence to keep the dogs away from the fence.
