Dog Litter

My 5 1/2 month old chihuahua who has been pee pad training for 2 months now has a tendency to "scoot" with her nose the pee pad to cover her waste. She also plays with the pee pad and tears it to shred when home alone, and plays on top of it when in her exercise pen. Is this normal? Should I try dog litter?

I have never used pads or litter.  They may be a good choice for a small dog you have no choice but leave home all day.  The litter might be a good idea if the dog wants to bury its stools.  I have never tried it, but I sometimes suggest covering the pad with expanded metal.  you can buy small pieces at hardwares and home centers.  Look near the nuts and bolts.
