fetching

i have a golden retriever, and I've tried and tried to get him to fetch, but he absolutely WILL NOT! how can i train him?

Answer
Try making the dummy or ball a high value item.  Talk enthusiastically and throw the ball up in the air and act happy when you catch it.  if you miss it, scramble to recover it.  Let it go further and further when you miss it, and towards him.  If he goes after it, praise him and call him to you.
