unknown injury of my chihuahua

my 9mos old chihuahua is in alot of pain, will not let me touch or pick her up w/out yelping, will not drink water, swallowing hard, took to vet and was prescribed metacam for inflammation and also told no broken bones...what could be the problem?

There could be many causes of pain in your pet.  I would be concerned about abdominal pain.  Does she yelp when you touch her belly or pick her up with your hand under her belly?  I would also be concerned about an injury to her back.  Dogs can injure their backs and have a ruptured or herniated disc (very similar to human injuries).  This can happen when they jump on/off furniture or from playing.  Has she had x-rays of her abdomen or spine?  Has she had any bloodwork performed recently?  If not, I would recommend these tests to gather more information.  In the meantime, the prescribed Metacam will help her feel more comfortable.  If she is still painful, please let your veterinarian know because he/she can prescribe additional pain medication if necessary.
