Weird behavior from my American Pittbull

Question
My American Pittbull, Ace, has been acting very strange the past week. He is a very well trained dog, just shy of a year old. The past week when we are laying down watching tv he has kind of been frantic. He walks around the room in circles, sniffs the ground like he has to use the restroom. Goes to the window like he wants out. He also moves his ears alot, almost a twitch. I let him out to use the bathroom, but when we come back in he continues to act the same. He usually has no problem going into his crate when we leave but the other day he whined and fought a little like he was scared. He has never done that before. Is this just something they do or should i be worried?

Answer
Is he neutered?  He may be smelling a female nearby that is "in season."

His behavior doesn't sound like something a dog normally does (except for the above statement); he sounds like he is either distressed, hears or senses something outside.

Is he doing this every night?  It doesn't sound like there is anything physically wrong.  I would not "baby" him or give him the feeling that you are concerned; sometimes dogs pick up on our own nervousness or worry.
