Question
My husband and I have a nice sized bark area in our backyard for our two dogs potty use.  One dog is large so easy removal of waste, but our small dogs waste gets lost in the bark. My question is if there is something natural to spray or sprinkle around on the bark to help with the break down and cleansing of the area?

Answer
Hi Desa,

Thank you for writing to me about your concern for waste disposal.  There is no way that I know of to break down the waste that is lost in the bark. What I would suggest is to create an area that is pea gravel where your dogs are trained to potty.  That way there will be drainage and you will be able to see the poop quite easily.  You can also hose the area down after applying   a mixture of baking soda with peroxide in a sprayer to disinfect and deordorize the area.  Be sure that you water thoroughly after the application.

It takes a year for poop to distintegrate so removal is your first line of defense.

Best of luck,
