Question
Hi Susan,

I have a Staffie that has fairly large nails (compared to our collie) but they are always splitting and cracking.  We trim them but he hates it partly, we think, because his nails are overly tender because of this splitting problem.  Is there a vitamin or mineral he is missing from his diet?

Thanks

Answer
Hello Sandy,

Poor nail growth and splitting can also be related to poor nutrition, especially lack of minerals and protein.

Calcium (in Oyster Shell)
Phosphorus
Magnesium
Potassium
Boron (in Brewers Yeast)
Copper
Cobalt (in Vitamin B12)
Iron
Silicon (in Alfalfa)
Manganese
Zinc

A great product to get is called NuVet Plus, it's not sold in stores but only through groomers/breeders or vets.  It is shipped to Canada from the US by calling 800-474-7044 using ordering code 42299

This supplement has all the vitamins, minerals and herbs in one tasty wafer.  Dogs love them!
Give them a try and if  you don't see the results you are looking for you may send them back and get a full refund. Order a 90 count and give two per day.

Let me know if you tried them.
