rat terrier feeding

We have a new 5yo rat terrier. How often should we feed her? Thanks.

Hi Bruce,
 Dogs like a schedule.  Most people that I know feed their dogs twice a day including me.  7 am and 7 pm  If its off a little not to worry.  If she doesn't eat within 10 mins of putting it down, then pick it up and put it away till the next feeding.  She will get the hint that it goes away if she doesn't eat.  Don't free feed.  They end up grazing all day, when ever THEY want.  Feeding them twice a day keeps them fit and trim. If my dogs look a little skinny I feed them a little more that feeding, if they are looking a little hefty then I cut back.  You can regulate better that way.  PLUS feeding them 2 times a day you can tell if something is wrong medically.  If they don't eat 2 to 3 meals and acting differently than usual you can tell the doctor better than if she is free feeding.
