Hiccups

Why does my poodle get frequent hiccups?  What can I do to help him ?

Answer
Very likely, your pup is gulping in air with his food or water, just as many people do. It is irritating and upsetting, but it is, just like with people, not usually physically harmful or anything more than irritating.

I'm not sure what you could do to help him, unless you can teach him to eat and drink slowly.  I'm sorry there isn't anything I can think to suggest.

My dogs sometimes get them as well - and it passes fairly quickly.  Giving lots of hugs and pets when it's happening doesn't hurt anything :).
