Question
What is the general age of sexual maturity in a standard poodle X Springer
Spaniel, looks just like a standard poodle please.

Answer
Hello Gillian,
Standard Poodles usually reach Sexual Maturity around the age of 1 1/2 years old, but most breeders won't breed until the dog is 2.  This allows the rest of the body to mature and to insure that she is healthy and correct to carry puppies to term.

You could breed a Springer around 1 1/2 years more comfortably because they mature more quickly than the larger Std Poodle.

You also need to make sure that any breeding dog goes through a pre breeding exam from the Vet just to insure that your dogs are healthy enough to breed and bear young.
Your Vet can also pick up things in the adult dogs that could be passed on to the puppies.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions for me, please feel free to ask.
