Weak rear end in older Lab

Question
Our 11 year old Lab has become very weak in her hind legs. She slipped on the ice this past winter and did a "split". Since then her weakness has become more pronounced. She has a hard time going up and down stairs. When she moves her bowels, sometimes she sits down. She takes an aspirin a day and the vet prescribe glucosamine supplements (which she's taken for 2 weeks and we don't see any improvement). Thanks for your time to this question. Thanks, Paula

Answer
Hi,Apparently the vet seem to feel the problem is in the joints and not a muscle that is torn or sprained.
Glucosamine is cumulative in the system and so it may take 4 to 6 weeks to see an improvement. You might also want to try adding MSM or using a joint supplement for canines, such as Dancing Paws Joint Health products. They have a recovery supplement that addresses pain and inflammation while rebuilding joint tissue. If you use other brands, please check the engredients because many have chemicals and fillers that are needless and can actually cause other problems.
Brightest Blessings
