Labrador retreiver maybe has an ear infection?

Question
We have a beautiful yellow lab named Moses. He is a little over a year old and weighs about 76lbs. When we got him about six months ago, and
took him for a check-up at our vet, he had an ear infection. We were given Panalog, and used it
according to our vets instructions. That was a few months ago. Now he has quite a bit of black looking waxy stuff inside his ears that I can see. It looks like it is just inside the ear canal and I cannot see how far it goes in. The outside area of his ears dont seem to bethat red or irritated and he doesn't seem to be itching at his ears too much. He isnt shaking his head or tilting his head. The only thing I have noticed is that he a little itchy elsewhere. He does lick his paws some, and sometimes itches under his chin, and he tries to bite the ends of his feet, even putting them inside his mouth and biting. He is also licking at his genital area alot (maybe just a habit?) I have searched the internet and found some info on yeast infections in the ears and also on ear mites. I think this is some kind of fungus-type thing. I still have some panalog left but dont feel like I should put any "moisture" in his ears and think they need a good cleaning and some kind of solution for fungus. I am just theorizing, since the Panalog did not totally clear up his previous ear infection, which did not look the same as this time (last time the outside of his ear was
very red and irritated.) I found internet info for a solution of 3 parts mineral oil to 1 part Betadine solution, putting 1.5 ml into each ear. What do you suggest? What type of infection do you think this is? Do you need more info?
Is the Betadine solution safe and should I try it. I want to try something at home before I go to the vet again. ($58 just for the office visit)
I know that there are some things only a vet can handle, but want to try home remedies first.
Thanks for your help/suggestions...

Answer
Hello Lisa and thank you for your question, It sounds liek somesort of an ear infection you can do something very simple at home for this, just stop by the vets and pick up a bottle of ear cleaner for dogs/cats it runs 10/17 bucks for a bottle and they reccomend it when your cleaning up dirty ears for ear infections....its ussally avalible in the front of the store part of the vets if not maybe you could ask if the carry the ear cleaner without persription if not go to walmart or a petshop and get the second best type of ear cleaner avalible. Follow the bottles derections and squirt it into the ear cnaal and sqish teh outter ear to loosen dirt repete once of twice if there really dirty, do this once a day, if the wax keeps coming back and back and back and it is really a dark stinky brown I suspect a yeast infection and it needs treatment through a vet's office. My lab chews her feet somtimes also adn you can hear her chewing her toenails... she an odd dog lol. Itching more then normal all over is a sign of allergies and if he is really Really itchy...can't sleep itchy give him *One ***25 ML Benadryl caplet before bed...it calms the itching it really has been a life saver for my jack russell terrier who if he isnt given his nightly pill will scratch his ears bloody...poor Luke. The Benadryl caplets are pink oblong shaped and are sold for people in locale drug stores or shopping centers. Vets are expensive and I do sympothize with people when it comes to $58 dollars to see the dang vets lol...I was at the vets so much last year with allergies in my jack russell terier and labrador retreiver it was very expensive. I hope this helps if you ened anything else reemail me anytime, take care and good luck with your ppoch hopefully he doesnt' ahev allergys....ear infectins are very commanon in labs thou mine is going on 3 years old and has three already.
