How much food to Feed 7y/o Labrador

Question
Hi.  I have a 7y/o female Labrador retriever who's overweight.  She doesn't get much activity except walking around a small enclosure around the house.  I would like to know how much food i should be feeding her(how many cups/day)?  Is she considered a senior already for her age?  How much crude protein should the dogfood i give her contain?  Thanks in advance for whatever information you can give me.

Answer
Pay no attention to the ingredients in a dog chow.  They are all formulated and tested to give dog s what they need.  You can get there using different blends of ingredients.

You may want to look at some of the weight loss formulas for an over weight, inactive dog.  The best thing might be the weight loss formula equivalent of what you are feeding now.  The less change you make in a dog's diet, the better.  As for how much, nobody can tell you that.  You must adjust it to your dog's needs.  Most Labs want more than is good for them.  Here is a link to a great guide on how to maintain ideal body condition for any dog.
