Question
My lab has bad arthritis in her hind legs, she is almost blind and is hard of hearing. She recently was diagnosed with renal failure. She is having more and more potty issues in the house. She can no longer go up stairs and we carry her up. I don't know if she is in pain as she never whispers or wines. She does fall with her hind legs though. How do we know when it is her time? We love her and are torn as we want to do what is right for her. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Only you can tell if your dog is ready...if she has lost her normal quality of life and doesn't have that spark anymore, it might be time.  You may want to check with the vet to see if there is any medication that can help.

You may want to visit www.lab-retriever .net which is a large community of lab owners and they might be able to offer you some support during this hard time.
