Question
I have a yellow labrador retriever who is four and a half months old.  He has recently been losing his teeth.  I was wondering how long it will take for his new teeth to grow in and what stage of growth he is in (how much more growing does he have)?  Are there any other major landmarks I can watch for to help him get the full benefits while he grows?

Answer
Hello and thank you for your questions, Loosing teeth usally last 2/4 weeks after that hi permanet adult tetth are in and hopefully you have taught him to accept teeth cleaning by now. He will keep growing taller until 12 months of age and then fill out, keeping him on large breed puppy food until he is 14 months of age would be perfect. Just don't over exercise him or exercise him too much until he is a year old... too much exercise during puppy hood in larger breeds can contribute to hip problmes later in life.
