Shedding and more!

Question
Hi D-Lee,
We are the proud ownders of 2 6 month old labs. I read that labs usually shed two times a year. But how long does the shedding last? We brush them at least once a week each but it seems like the shedding is none stop! Any answers?

Also, when we take them walking we have a hard time with both of them pulling and wanting to go thier own way. We have tried different leashes, treats and even tried a lead (which they hated)are there any other methods to try?

Last question is when we come home they are so excited to see us they tend to jump on us or other people when they come over is there a way to control thier jumping since they are each about 50 pounds allready and growing!

Thank you!
RZ

Answer
Hello RZ and thank you for your questions,

Labs shed thourght the year but 'blow' there coat twice yearly which is wehn clumps can be pulled out with ease and brushing several times a day just doesnt seem to be enough, Gentle leaded head collars are the best for this... thats all I can reccomend my lab was a big puller and I could not walk her until my vet reccomended gentle leaded now she rarely pulls unless of course she sees a squerl or cat and can walk right beside me with relivtive ease if I shorten the leash..she doesnt pull when the leash is shortened ither. Just dont use harrnesses they make pulling worse belive me I had one lol. My lab would bonce and jumpup on me and anyone else coming into the house when she was that age... it stoppd when she reached a year old.

I hope this helps if you have any more questions feel free to ask its what I'm here for.
