I need recipes to make to get the weight off my friend.  Can anyone help?

Some will try anyhow.  What I would do is select a high fiber light or weight loss formula dog chow.  Play around with the amount and weighting every few days until he is slowly losing weight.  Keep it up until he reaches his ideal body condition according to http://www.longliveyourdog.com/twoplus/RateYourDog.aspx  the more you increase his activity, the better.  

If somebody does offer you recipes, check what kind of feeding trials that they have been tested on.  Demand more than their own personal experience.  The dog chows are tested extensively, and even with all the recall mess, are still safer than untested diets.
