Question
Hello. I'm Kiana. My dog named Coast passed away last night. He was a blacklab/borticollie/terrier mix. He was a big dog and now my family is ready to get a smaller one. I know I'm asking questions about a Jack-a-poo but there were no categories for that. Anyway, I have 6 daughters. One is 11 years, 7 years, 3 years, 2 years and 2 1 year olds. I looked the breed up and they are VERY adorable. Are they good with kids? I have a large backyard for him to run around in. Im willing to give him a daily walk. And I will "bath" or "groom" him once a month. I don't want a yappy dog either. Also can they swim? Just wondering if a Jack-a-poo is right for my household. E-mail me back!!!

Answer
Hello I am very sorry to hear of your loss.

Jack russells are noted to be bad with kids under the age of 10 any kids that go and pull there hair or tail/poke there eyes will get snapped at and might be biten...jacks dont like to be picked at and wont tolerate little kids so a jack a poo wont work. Poodles I've no experiance with but one thing is for sure they love to bark, Jack russells aso are great barkers. You might consider a boston terrier they love children and are very loving and can swim from what I've heard and are not barkers but cant tolerate high tempratures because of there short nose. You might want to check into all the smaller gundogs as well most like kids and love exercise and swimming.
