Question
Hi, I have a bitch whom has already had one session of bleeding.  Now i just thought they bled once a year and that was it.  She has only this morning started to bleed again - can you educate me into how many times a year they 'season'?  Also what can i do to prevent her from bleeding all over the furniture, like would a dog nappy work?  Many many thanks, Steven.

Answer
Hello Steven,
Typically dogs have TWO cycles a year, usually every 6 months. There are some dogs however, that can have 3 cycles in one year, and others that have a heat cycle only every 18 months. Every dog is different.
There are female doggie diapers and pads that are sold at most pet stores (here in the US, not sure about England) -  but the best way to prevent it is to HAVE HER SPAYED!!!!!!!

Good luck!
