Question
QUESTION: I HAVE A FIVE YEAR OLD MALE JR. HE IS ACTING LIKE HE IS IN HEAT, IF THAT COULD BE. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT WORDS TO USE. HE SHAKES, TOSSES & TURNS, ALWAYS WANTING TO GO OUT, JUMPY,TALKS ALOT AND IS NOT HAPPY. COULD IT BE BECAUSE HE IS NOT FIXED THAT HE IS IN HEAT?

ANSWER: Hi Nadine,
Male dogs do not go into and out of heat like females. Basically male dogs are always ready. There may be a female who is in heat closeby and he can smell/sense her, but it's probably most likely that he just wants and needs more exercise. You know jacks, they love to be busy. It's not too late to have him neutered if you want. It will definitely calm down his demeanor. Best of luck to you both!

QUESTION: THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR ANSWER. I HAVE INCREASED MY DOGS ACTIVITY, BUT HE ALWAYS GETS WALKED THREE TIMES A DAY. HE HAS BEEN PLAYING FRISBE IN BACK YARD. ANYWAY, HE JUST WILL NOT STOP WANTING TO BE OUTSIDE, FALLING ASLEEP SITTING UP, WILL NOT EAT, SHAKES, RATTLE AND ROLLS. MY QUESTION IS CAN I GIVE HIM ANYTHING TO DETER HIS BEHAVIOR AS OF NOW? SHOULD I IGNORE HIM?  I AM GOING NUTS IN PALM COAST, FL.

Answer
You're welcome -
I think neutering him will help A LOT -
and if he's had all that exercise that you describe, you are doing enough. He may just be a high strung dog.
He can probably sense you're frustration and might be nervous. Relax and ignore his antics if he continues being overly active even after some good exercise. Give him some big rawhide bones to chew when he's "resting" - it will help keep him busy. Best of luck!
