Husky Not Shedding

Question
My husky is going to be 4 this September. We hot her in December of 03 and live in the Central Valley of California. The first few years she shed completly fine. Last year however, we noticed that she was not shedding. We did not thing anything of it and just let her be. Then around September of last year she got an odd spot on her back. She just lost hair on that one spot and she had funny looking fuzzy patches of hair. We took her to the doctor but they couldn't figure it out. Then she got another bald spot next to her rump around December and we took her again and they still couldn't figure it out. They have checked her thyroid, done blood tests, checked for worms, everything but they don't know why she has a funny coat. We have been putting fish oil in her food for several months and it still hasn't helped. It is now May and she is still not shedding this year. She sheds but not like she is suppose to. Anyways please help! She is a happy dog and loves to play but her coat is not right. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Diana,

Huskies should always shed, but shedding depends on the climate. If it is always warm in California then she won't shed normally.  The little patch of hair might be the only thing she is going to shed during the shedding season.

Is she shedding or does she have no hair in these "bald spots" on her back?

If you have anymore questions, please ask.

Thanks,
Laura
