7 week siberian husky

Question
I am about to get a 7 week old husky puppy. It is my first time owning a dog and wanted to get information about when and how to get her vaccinations. I also wanted some information about housebreaking my puppy.

Answer
A lot of vaccination information depends on where you get your puppy from.  A responsible breeder will usually already have done some work and started your puppy on a vaccination schedule.  The breeder should share that information with you on what has been done, and what needs to be done next.  If you aren't getting that information, your best bet is to take the dog into the vet for a check-up and the vet will recommend the best course of action for vaccinations.  Usually, at 7 or 8 weeks, you are mainly looking at worming the dog and making sure the digestive system is in order.  The actual vaccinations come just a little bit later.  Honestly, I always rely on my vet to provide those time frames and don't remember them offhand.  However, a vet visit when you first get your puppy is always a good idea.

As for housebreaking, Siberian Huskies can be very easy to train, and crate training is one of the best methodologies for it.  In fact, I think that Siberians are one of a handful of breeds that are made for crate training.  I would suggest looking up some resources on crate training, and if you have any questions on how to do it, definitely feel free to ask me.
