Husky putting paws in bowl water

20 9:08:25

Question
I got a two year female Husky 2 months ago.  The day when I brought her to my house, I noticed that she put her paws in the bowl water and hit it really hard and made a mess in the floor. She did that while watching my other dog. I caught that and I corrected her right away.

It seems work fine until 4 days ago. I arrived at home from work and noticed the floor was wet and the water bowl was empty.  She does it every day while I'm gone.  She does it twice a day .... in the morning after I left to the office and I happen always go home for lunch and I noticed water was empty so I add water again to the bowl and noticed that the bowl was empty and the floor was wet again in the afternoon.

She will not do it while I'm at home, so since I can't catch her then I cannot make a correction.  As far as her behavior, she is pretty well behave to me and she is submissive to my other dog. I'm making assumption because my Lab is always try to mount her or at least always put his paws in her face and most of the time he was successful unless I stop it (the two have been neutered and spayed -- if it's relevant).  I run with her and my other dog in the morning and evening.  Now she just suddenly get a long with my Lab.  The two are playing really well right now.  But I'm 99% sure that she did that on purpose instead of accident from playing in the house.

How can I stop her bad habit?  I really would like to catch her while she is doing it but apparently she knows how to play the game.

Thanks.

Answer
She digs in the water bowl because she is bored. Siberians do this. I would try and find her something to do while you are gone that amuses her. If she is left in a crate or a gated room you can also get her a large rabbit water bottle and teach her to dink out of that, and use your normal water bowl when you are watching her.
Siberians are smart and know if hey want to do something you have to be out of sight. So try and outsmart her, or change her water bowl.

Here is a water bowl that MIGHT help.
