Bringing a 5.5 month old GR puppy over to a friends house while we have dinner

Are we nuts? Our friends invited us over to dinner. They have 3 kids and a Beagle. They offered we could bring our puppy so we could not have to rush back to let her out or have someone come over since it's short notice.

Any ideas on how to make this work?? I was thinking of giving her a long walk before we go and getting a new chew bone to take?

Depends on the Beagle, how old it is and how comfortable it is playing with a dog 2-3 times its size.  Here we tend to put the young dogs in the fenced yard and let them have at one another.  The Beagle may not be ready to be treated like a litter mate to the Golden.  If the Beagle doesn't want to play, keep her on a leash, and be careful to not to go too long between visits outside.  That is what we do at me brother's place.  Their older Lab and cat never care for our puppies.

Unlike kids, a tired puppy is a good puppy.
