Golden Retriever wont poop in our yard!

Question
We have just recently rescued a 2 year old G.R. She is WONDERFUL, however, she refuses to go poop in our backyard. She will only poop when we take her on a walk, which is okay, but she is going in for heartworm treatment next week and, as I'm sure you know, no walks for 4-6 weeks. I am concerned about whether or not she will go in our yard during her recovery period. What do you think?? THANK YOU!!

Answer
They can only hold it so long.  It may be the exercise more than the place.  Take some of the stools you clean up on your walks and place them in a far corner of your yard.  Walk her back there and keep walking around close by.  Sooner, or later, she will have to go.  Once she does, lavish praise on her.  If she manages to hold it, try again before long.  Keep a close eye on her or crate her, and take her back out at the first sign of needing to go.
