Question
I HAVE A FEMALE SHE IS A LITTLE OVER A YR, SHE HAS A HABIT OF PULLING ON YOUR CLOTHES AND BITING HANDS ALONG WITH JUMPING. SHE ALSO GETS SO EXCITED WHEN PEOPLE COME OVER SHE URINATES WHEN THEY PET HER. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET HER OUT OF THESE HABITS BUT NOT WORKING, CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME ADVICE?

Answer
Goldens have a trait bread into some to be somewhat submissive, that's where the urinating is coming from. This she will outgrow, but you must not make a big deal out of it when she does it. Just wipe it up. Maybe not allowing visitors to pet her when they first come in will also help. When you are getting ready for visitors, putting her in her "room" (ie, crate, your bedroom etc), then after your company has been there a while, let her out, but don't let them pet her. If she goes to them, tell them not to pet her. She will then go away, then have her come to you. This will tell her that company isn't there to visit her.

As far as the biting, pulling and jumping, this is going to take some work on your part. A lot of work and treats are necessary. I don't care what you use for a treat, whether it's a food treat or a pet treat. But when she bites and pulls, tap her nose with your finger and tell her "NO Biting" in a firm manner. Then when she stops, giver her the treat.  When she comes to you and doesn't bite or pull, give her a treat and tell her what a good girl she is. If she jumps on you then follow the following. When she jumps on you, push her down and tell her, "NO Jumping", firmly.  If she keeps doing it, make her sit, by pulling her collar back toward her butt and pushing her but down, and say "sit" at the same time. when she does this, treat her.  Hope that helps.
