4month year old puppy

I have two questions really...  1.  If 4 months to young to keep him outside while we are at work for 8 hours (we would have a dog house and him on a leash in our backyard).  2. What TEMPATURE is to cold for a 4 month year old to be outside?

My personal experience is that dogs are much happier being kept inside as family pets rather than ostracized to the back yard.  Dogs are "pack" animals and need to be with their human pack; often problems develop when a dog spends too much time alone outside.  They get lonely, bored, frightened; they begin barking, digging, annoying neighbors, can develop severe behavioral problems.

I would also wonder why someone would get a dog, only to leave it outside.

In any event, regardless of what you decide, 4 months is too young to be outside alone.  A dog that young cannot defend itself against other animals that may invade the territory, or unkind children who may tease or torment.
