Question
Pom born 12/2/2004. papers. neutered. can be so loving, good barker (guard). paper and outdoor trained.  recently has gotten into some aggressive behavior, growling/biting us.  We know to NOT try to take something from his mouth when chewing. We know if asleep to NOT startle him (becomes fierce, has lots of razor like teeth!) sometimes reach to pick him up--snarly/growl/teeth/bite..sometimes does it when don't even reach for him.... He knows it's us, he knows we love him --sometimes "scary"...what can we do?

Answer
Your pup has become the dominant one if the family-that must change.
If you are experiencing one of his outbursts you need to immediatly turn him on his back and hold him there till he settles.  It is a submissive position and will let him know you are in charge.  You can also greet him this way-when you come home, roll him on his back and love him.  Biting is never ok-you should ALWAYS be able to take anything from him without a problem.  If he tried to be bossy with you then use a deep voice-like a pack leader would and tell him NO BITE and take what it is.  YOu can offer it back but handle his mouth and take it away.  When he doesn't try to fight you then he can have it.

Best of luck!
