bloodshot eyes

I've just last night had my dog "Chihuahua" move back into my new home after he's been to stay with friends till i finished decorating.. on his arrival i gave him a look over and the whites of his eye's have turned to a mid red colour. could you give me any advice on what this could be and the cause of this.

He may be allergic to something at your friend's house?
If he seems to be acting fine just keep an eye on him....
Many vet's recommend a little benadryl for allergies.  The problem is you are not sure why this is happening.  If it continues, you may need a vet to take a look at the little chi.
