Chi and seizures vs spasms; nutritional supplements for seizures:

Question
We just recently adopted an 8 yr old Chi and he is doing great, except that one evening after a long day of various activity he seemed to have what I would call a seizure.  I have seen seizures in people just never in animals, so I am not completely sure that is what it was.  He became very stiff, lost his balance, and shaking more than usual.  He seemed 'paralyzed' of sorts, unable to walk, or move anything other than his head.  No frothing or foaming at the mouth, though he will lick his lips like he is thirsty though won't drink.  Once he seems to 'recover' he then starts licking his hind legs at the 'upper elbow' or hip area.  We have had him for 1 1/2 months now, he had his first one a week after we got him, one month later, and now one week after that.  The previous own denies anything like this happening to him.  Environmental? or Health/Genetic related?

Answer

*natural Canine Holist
Hi Julie - Well, if he is able to move his head I wonder if it is a spasm and not a seizure....( it does sound odd)??

Well, I can give you a special holisitc diet and a few supplements to help keep him healthy...
Also, you can have the vet draw some blood work to check his Values and thyroid>>>>

Here are some Nutritional choices:

1.  You can give him 1-2 tablespoons of SoJo home cooking per day / along with his other dog food/  This is Wonderful and Natural-
we like the Green Bag that is grain - free.  MOM will add some lightly Cooked meats to the SoJO mix -
see here:
http://www.sojos.com/index.aspx?affiliate=petnurse

2.  Some olive oil is very helpful - JUST 1/2 of a teaspoon per day in your food / mix in...
Must be pure olive oil - good for your hips, joints and skin

3.  NuVET wafers or powder / NuVET is an Immune System booster - great for all the body systems / natural canine supplement/vitamin.
Many seizure pets take 1 NuVET wafer per day -
YOU are small and only need 1/2 a wafer per day or 1/2 teaspoon..
SEE here: not sold in any stores/ thru Holistic vets:
http://www.nuvet.com/81098
Tell them pet nurse Marie told you to call in.  Quick shipping when you call in PLUS - as for the 15% off discount:
use order code 81098

Ok, some Holistic dog food/ SoJo and your own cooked meats:
NuVET and Olive oil.....

We can add a few more things as time goes by ....

Keep a log of the ? seizure / spasms activity:
Vets do not like to treat seizures unless they are weekly.

I hope some good nutrtional support will help.

Best wishes...
